ISAIAH 45

1 Thus saith Yahweh to His anointed [Moshiach], to Cyrus [Koresh], whose right hand [yamin] I have holden, to subdue nations [Goyim] before him; and I will loose [ungird] the loins of kings [melachim], to open before him the two leaved gates [double doors]; and the gates [she'arim] shall not be shut [that they may not continue shut];

...the Pagan Cyrus, King of Persia, was "Yahweh's Anointed," or Messiah, who was surnamed of Yahweh before his birth, and 176 years before he appeared upon the page of Bible history.

Phanerosis - Yahweh Manifested in Cherubim

The spirit is the girder or strengthener...Cyrus was girded by the spirit for the overthrow of the dominion of Babylon, and for the punishment of the worshippers of Bel...This [the spirit] is supreme and righteous; its agents are subordinate, and not necessarily pure and holy.

Eureka 15.7.

Cyrus - destroyer of Babylon.

Cyrus, whose Hebrew name Choresh, which is a contraction of Chayaraish, and signifies Like the Heir, was, as his name was intended to express, the type of Christ in the execution of his mission against "the Great City Babylon" of the latter days. Yahweh's sanctified ones, the Medes and Persians, under Cyrus, were also typical of the saints, who with Christ Jesus "the Heir of all things," and "joint heirs with him," at the head of the armies of Israel, are to enter the Great City when "the great river Euphrates," in a political sense, shall be sufficiently "dried up" to admit of their passage through into the Roman House of the kingdom of men, in which they will slay the Papal Lucifer -- "the Beast and the False Prophet" -- the Little Horn that has Eyes and a Mouth speaking great things and blasphemies.

Eureka 11.2.iii.3.

It was revealed to the prophet Isaiah that Cyrus (whom Yahweh named v.4) would destroy Babylon and establish the Persian empire to succeed, as it was to Daniel in Babylon just prior to the event, over 150 years later (Dan.2 and 7). Cyrus would be Yahweh's anointed and be led by God's right hand to perform the appointed mission. This is also true of Christ, Yahweh's Anointed to open before him the two leaved (brass) gates; and the gates shall not be shut.

This was the night of Belshazzar's feast, so graphically portrayed in Dan.5. The guards were drunk, the feast of Ishtar in full swing when Cyrus attacked at midnight and cut down everything that moved, preserving the faithful (Pslm 91). Babylon which boasted it could withstand 20 years siege was taken in a night. Cyrus had dried up the Euphrates and then marched his troops up the bed, the frogs drowning the march of his troops (Rev. 16, 12-16). This is the case now, when the clamour of the frog like spirits of madness amongst peoples and nations drown the stealthy advent of the 'King of Israel, the Ottoman empire now dried up since 1917. *

2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass [delatot nechoshet], and cut in sunder the bars of iron [through their barzel (iron) bars]:

I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight - this speaks antitypically of the new moral order Christ will establish: sweeping away the Greco-Latin Babylonish Apostasy and idolatry that defiles and pollutes the earth, and all the reactions of infidelity, atheism, evolutionism to this apostasy that have sprung up since the French Revolution (Jer.16: 19).

... the gates of brass, and bars of iron (The symbolic iron and brass of this present civilisation smashed by the Stone Power) (Dan.2.36-44). *

3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness [otzarot choshech], and hidden riches of secret places [mistarim], that thou mayest know that I, Yahweh, which [Who] call thee by thy name [shem], am the Elohim of Israel.

The Temple treasures were retrieved and taken back to Jerusalem by Zerubbabel and Joshua (Ezra 1. 7-11). (Yahweh's true jewels Mal. 3. 17, Mtt.6. 19,20). *

4 For Jacob my servant's sake [For the sake of avdi Ya'akov], and Israel mine elect [Yisroel My Bachir], I have even called thee by thy name [ shem]: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

God's entire plan and purpose revolves around Israel, their redemption (Rom. 11, Ezk 35-37). *

Yahweh named Cyrus - marvellous providence in this...we are not told how the parents were moved to name him Cyrus. Natural influences probably or their minds directly operated on without their knowledge...for instance by dream, or possibly direct instruction from an angel.

5 I am Yahweh, and there is none else [other], there is no Elohim beside Me: I girded [equipped] thee, though thou hast not known Me:

A discerning eye sees the hand of Deity guiding the nations and controlling their destinies, not the mere whims and corrupt policies of kings and earthy rulers and politicians. These are simple clay in the hands of the potter (Rom. 9. 14-24)

Cyrus was such. A carefully honed divine instrument for executing the divine will, even though he was totally ignorant of the fact. So the prophecies of Daniel and the Apocalypse likewise illustrate the principle, that-God rules in the Kingdoms of men (Dan.2. 21 ,22, Dan.4. l7, Rev. 12).

This will be the revelation to ignorant man, stupified in his idolatry of nature, possessions, gadgets. *

6 That they may know from the rising of the sun [shemesh], and from the west [even to the ma'arav (west, setting place of the sun)], that there is none beside me [apart from Me]. I am Yahweh, and there is none else [no other ].

7 I form the light [ohr], and create darkness [choshech]: I make peace [shalom], and create evil [rah]: I Yahweh do [ worketh ] all these things.

The Christadelphian, Feb 1886

A barbarised theology has thrown a mist over this point. It has assigned all evil to an imaginary demon, and attributed good only to God, in the face of the revealed and natural truth that evil is God's work in punishment of sin.

Death and disease are in the world not by diabolical machination, but by the divine act and deed because of the disregard of His authority in the earth.

The Ways of Providence Ch 13

THE CONSTITUTION OF SIN.

"The creature was made subject to evil, not willingly, but by the arranging in hope."

The introduction of sin into the world necessitated the constitution of things as they were laid in the beginning. If there had been no sin there would have been no "enmity" between

God and man; and consequently no antagonism by which to educe good out of evil. Sin and evil are as cause and effect. God is the author of evil, but not of sin; for the evil is the punishment of sin.

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things" (Isaiah 45:7). " Shall there be evil in a city and the Lord hath not done it" (Amos 3:6)?

The evil then to which man is subjected is the Lord's doing. War, famine, pestilence, flood, earthquake, disease, and death, are the terrible evils which God inflicts upon mankind for their transgressions. Nations cannot go to war when they please, any more than they can shake the earth at their will and pleasure; neither can they preserve peace, when He proclaims war. Evil is the artillery with which He combats the enemies of His law, and of His saints; consequently, there will be neither peace nor blessedness for the nations, until sin is put down, His people avenged, and truth and righteousness be established in the earth.

This is the constituted order of things. It is the constitution of the world; and as the world is sin's dominion, or the kingdom of the adversary, it is the constitution of the kingdom of sin.

The word sin is used in two principal acceptations in the Scripture. It signifies in the first place, "the transgression of law;" and in the next, it represents that physical principle of the animal nature, which is the cause of all its diseases, death, and resolution into dust. It is that in the flesh "which has the power of death," and it is called sin, because the development, or fixation of this evil in the flesh was the result of transgression. In as much as this, evil principle pervades every part of the flesh, the animal nature is styled "sinful flesh," that is, flesh full of sin; so that sin, in the sacred style, came to stand for the substance called man.

In human flesh "dwells no good thing" (Rom. 7:18-17); and all the evil a man does is the result of this principle dwelling in him. Operating upon the brain, it excites the "propensities," and these set the "intellect" and "sentiments" to work. The propensities are blind, and so are the intellect and sentiments in a purely natural state; when, therefore, the latter operate under the sole impulse of the propensities, "the understanding is darkened through ignorance, because of the blindness of the heart" (Eph. 4:18).

The nature of the lower animals is as full of this physical evil principle as the nature of man; though it cannot be styled sin with the same expressiveness, because it does not possess them as the result of their own transgression; the name, however, does not alter the nature of the thing.

A defective piece of mechanism cannot do good work. The principle must be perfect, and the adaptation true, for the working to be faultless. Man in his physical constitution is imperfect and this imperfection is traceable to the physical organization of his flesh, being based on the principle of decay and reproduction from the blood which, acted upon by the air, becomes the life of his flesh. All the phenomena which pertain to this arrangement of things is summed up in the simple word sin, which is, therefore, not an individual abstraction, but a concretion of relations in all animal bodies, and the source of all their physical infirmities.

Elpis Israel 1.4.

I Create Evil

These Elohim or Sons of Power, are to be developed from the earth-born seed of Abraham, upon the great moral principle of the intellectual universe, expressed in the two words "faith" and "obedience" -- an obedient faith, tested by trial. This principle necessitates the existence of evil in the system where the development of God is in progress; for there can be, no trial where evil does not exist.

The Eternal Spirit has, therefore, wisely created evil -- first as the punishment of sin and secondly, to afford scope for the manifestation of the approved. Upon this principle, Abraham's faith was tried and perfected; and upon the same principle, though not in the same way, the faith of all scripturally recognized as "his seed," is tried and perfected to this day.

Phanerosis - 'Elohim developed from the seed of Abraham.

None can stay his hand or say,‭ ‬What doest thou‭? ‬Goodness will come at last‭; ‬but only of His sort and in His way.‭ ‬Myriad forms of beauty bloom and perish.‭ ‬They are but the blossoms of his power:‭ ‬all beauty is latent in Him.‭ ‬He could multiply them a million-fold,‭ ‬yea,‭ ‬and beyond.‭ ‬Are we to say that because he permits one to appear,‭ ‬he is bound to give it immortality‭? ‬He is bound to do nothing.

‭ ‬He doeth all things according to the counsel of His own will,‭ ‬and His will,‭ ‬in this matter,‭ ‬is that understanding and obedience in Christ shall be the basis of immortality,‭ ‬and not mere creature beauty,‭ ‬which is no more to him than the exquisite patterns of the snowflake seen under the microscope,‭ ‬or the brilliant hues of the peacock's plumage.‭

‭"‬He taketh not pleasure in the strength of a horse:‭ ‬he delighteth not in the legs of a man.‭"

These are but transient forms of his eternal power.‭ ‬The permanent forms are to be based on intelligent submission.‭ ‬The carnal mind rebels against this,‭ ‬and revels in false consolations which are but the dreams of its own propensities.‭ ‬But it is bootless.

‭ ‬God reigns and not man.‭ ‬His purpose will prevail when the clods of the valley shall have claimed their living kindred in all the earth.‭ ‬Christ is the key and the solution of the whole problem.‭

"‬In him dwelleth all the treasures of riches and knowledge:‭ ‬and this I say lest any man beguile you through philosophy and vain deceit.‭"

‭ ‬To him has power over all flesh been given,‭ ‬that he might give eternal life to as many as the Father has given him‭ (‬John‭ ‬17:3‭); ‬and for none other is‭ "‬summer land,‭" ‬or any other land‭ (‬except the land of darkness and the shadow of death‭) ‬in store.‭

The denial of death for the dead is the great falsehood of the day,‭ ‬which falsifies the gospel in its first element.‭ ‬Enlightened humility recognises the reign of death as the great fact of the situation,‭ ‬and accepts with thanksgiving the blessed hope of the gospel of Christ,‭ ‬that they who believe in him shall not perish but be raised up again at his appearing and his kingdom.

‭ ‬Hardship in the operation of this rule they cannot admit,‭ ‬for hardship is a thing that can only be conceived of as between one human being and another.‭ ‬Hath not the potter power over the clay‭?

The Christadelphian, Jan 1873

8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above [Cause (the rain) to trickle down, ye Shomayim], and let the skies pour down righteousness [blue sky pour down tzedek]: let the earth [eretz ] open, and let them bring forth salvation [let Yesha (salvation) blossom], and let righteousness [ tzedakah] spring up together [tatzmiach (spring up; Tzemach)]; I Yahweh have created it.

All that springs up out of the earth is caused to rise by the power of the sun acting upon the seeds therein. Every thing therefore brought up from beneath, or from darkness, into view is "a rising of the sun". Hence, "as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so Adonai Yahweh will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations" (Isa. 61:11).

The earth brings forth, and the garden causes to spring forth, as the result of the sun's power so that the earthborn products of the garden, are the sun's risings. After this analogy, the Sun of Righteousness, who rises only once to set no more, causes righteousness to spring forth from the earth, in causing righteous men to spring forth from the grave; who, when "clothed upon with their house from heaven," will praise him before all the nations.

The righteousness first pours down from heaven, then the earth opens, salvation is brought forth, and salvation and righteousness spring up together (Isa. 45:8): thus "truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven" (Psa. 85:11).

The Wings of the sun are his rays or beams. It is with these potent radiations that he causes things to spring forth from the earth.

Eureka 16.1.1.

12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

The word tells us that for the pleasure of God creation exists. The world ignores this, and acts on the theory that all things are for the pleasure of man. Thus God is dethroned in His own house. God purposes a great change in this respect.

Bro Roberts - Danger, Seasons 37.

16 They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols [charashei tzirim].

Cyrus. A mighty man and a man of war to topple Babylon and deliver the Jews that they might return from their captivity, to rebuild their city and temple, all a type of what Christ will accomplish at his return.

Men might conclude that God has altogether abandoned the earth for he hath long time held his peace. This would be an eggregious mistake. If they understood history and prophecy then they would be wiser, for God hath revealed all things to the wise. (Dan.12; 10)

The earth groaneth like a women in travail about to give birth (Rom 8: 19-22), and;Yahweh's fury breaks forth on a godless and heedless generation. Global famine will grip the nations and empires (v. I 5) "I wiiI dry up all their herbs .. I will dry up the pools (lakes)."

Cyrus did this drying up the great River Euphrates to conquer Babylon, as will Christ (Rev. 16: 12-16). While Babylon was idolatrous, in marked contrast Cyrus and the Persians abominated idols, being Zoroastrians, and smashed the lot of them when they took Babylon in a night. *

17 But Israel [Yisroel] shall be saved in Yahweh with an everlasting salvation [Teshuat Olamim]: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end [ad olemei ad].

This is a great emancipation and grafting in the New Covenant effected byYahweh's servant, typified by Cyrus (the Cyrus call 2 Chron 36: 22,23, Ezra 1.: 1-4). *

18 For thus saith Yahweh that created the heavens [Borei HaShomayim]; El himself that formed the earth and made it [otzer ha'aretz and its Maker]; He hath established it, He created it not in vain [tohu (chaos)], He formed it to be inhabited: I am Yahweh; and there is none else [ no other].

Now, people have so much Holy Spirit in them as they have of the words and ideas of the Deity understood, affectionately believed, and obeyed (John 6:63). But, when the time of the great Pentecostian outflow of Holy Spirit shall arrive, the assembled multitude of the approved convened before the judgment seat of Christ, will be filled, and covered over, and thoroughly saturated in all the atoms of their substance, with the flood of downpouring Spirit from unapproachable light; whereby they will be changed, and all that is in them of earthiness and mortality "swallowed up of life".

Henceforth, the pure, transparent stream of living water is distributed through them as its channel to mankind, until the knowledge of YAHWEH the fountain of living waters, shall cover the earth as the waters cover the sea (Isa.45:8)

The Final consummation - I am Yahweh and there is none else.

Eureka 22.1.

Such is the consummation of the Divine purpose in the creation of the heavens and the earth. He formed it to be inhabited: to be a tabernacle for Himself with men. He could, had it pleased Him, have created it perfect, and filled with immortal inhabitants, at the beginning.

To have done this would have prevented all the crime and misery that blot and crimson the record of the past; but then the world would have been a characterless automaton#; and unfit for association with the Governor of the Universe, whose attributes are moral, as well as intellectual and potential.

He desired a society for our planet consisting of tried and faithful friends, such as Abraham, who loved Him better than his dearest son. He proposed to develop it upon the principle of belief in His promises and obedience under trial; and to crown the whole with incorruptibility and life. Having prepared such a society as this, and concentrated it from all ages and generations into one glorious community, He would then put His hand to the final completion of its dwelling-place, as he declared to John, saying, "Behold, I make all things new".

When these true and faithful words are fulfilled, "IT IS DONE". Everything is finished by the Alpha Spirit, Who began the work in the week of days: and, as the Omega Spirit, the Beginning and the End, completed it in the week of thousands of years. The invitation to a participation in the sublime inheritance is liberal, and worthy of Deity, who saith, "I will give to him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh, shall inherit all thing s, and I will be Deity to him, and he shall be to me a son".

Eureka 21.2.

# Bro Thomas teaching is the angels were previously subject to trial. Elevation to immortality being determined by faith and obedience is the revealed process of Yahweh's operations. He does not create immortal automatons.

22 Look [Turn] unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth [kol afsei Eretz]: for I am El, and there is none else [no other].

But while the Lord reigns over Israel as the son of David, he will also reign over the earth at large as the Son of Man, and as the Redeemer of the whole terrestrial creation. Obedient unto death, he has, with his blood, purchased all things to himself; from man to the meanest insect, and to the herbs of the field. Therefore a day must come, in which He shall assert His sovereign right over all terrestrial creation: not only in his secret providence, but in His visible supremacy.

He must at some time exhibit an open authority as the Son of Man, the purchaser. For this purpose He will assume the sovereignty of the whole earth, and everything therein; until the time when he shall "deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father."

Between the assumption and sacerdotal abdication of this earthly kingdom, there is an interval of a thousand years; which constitutes the reign of the Lord as Son of Man and Son of David, distinct altogether from his reign after the millennial period.

The annual assemblage of all nations at Jerusalem, will form a permanent bond of union between the Lord and His subjects, and the manifestation of His glory in the Temple, will in itself be sufficient to bend mankind to his authority. Yet it appears from Scripture, that he will permit existing kingdoms to continue during the Millennial Reign, with Monarchs, but not mortal ones, to govern the nations in the character of His Lieutenants.

An independent sovereignty during the reign of Christ, is not to be imagined; but it is easy to understand that Princes will occupy thrones as Viceroys of Him as their Chief. The Lord Jesus will be the head, and the kings of the nations, His viceregal and fraternal associates. Submission to the Son of Man by gospel obedience before His appearing, being the especial condition upon which monarchial power may be attained in the Age to Come.

It is sometimes imagined that the Millennial Reign will be a time of perfection, both in nature and in man. This opinion, however, is contradicted by many passages of Scripture, which prove that the whole of the personal reign of Christ is a period of judgment.

The world has been tried under every form of government, and has failed under each. It was placed at the first under the supremacy of Adam, who was king of all living things, and himself the only man in his universal empire. He fell; and from that day no universal empire has been allowed.

Cain and Adam divided the earth between them; not as monarchs, but as patriarchs. Then succeeded the patriarchal government of Noah in a new world, rescued from the flood. Then the kingdoms of Nineveh, of Egypt, of Sicyon, and all the oldest monarchies of the world. Then followed the republican governments of Greece and Rome. Then aristocracies, oligarchies, and hierarchies. All of them failed. Even the theocracy of Israel, having God himself for king, even this could not stand so long as mortal men were administrators of its law.

To the present hour, no form of government can last beyond a limited period. Corruption, the love of money, and the contending interests of an increasing population, deprave the hearts of men, and render them incapable of self-government.

We may observe that at present, both in England and elsewhere, every man cries out for a share in the government; while there is not one man in a thousand who would not govern, or rather misgovern the whole nation with no other object than his own narrow interests.

Having thus left man to himself for nearly 6000 years, which has proved his utter insufficiency; the probation has extended to the last stage of endurance; the Lord will, therefore, descend in person to revoke all government into His own hands. But this very revocation of government implies a revolution, and a revolution implies a period of judgment.

Old systems are to be broken up; old habits conquered; rebellious nations to be coerced; reluctant minds to be controlled. All things are to become new!

Accordingly we need not be surprized to learn from Zachariah, that some nations of the earth will refuse to go up to Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And as that Feast will constitute the pivot of the kingdom of Christ, to refuse to attend it, will amount to a declaration of independence. For this reason, the heaviest judgments are threatened against all who refuse their presence at that feast.

The principal judgment will consist in withholding rain from the refractory nations; and thus compelling them to choose between famine and obedience-

"And if the family of Egypt go not up (which, in the course of nature, does not require rain) there shall be the plague wherewith the Lord shall smite the nations that come not up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles-Zech. 14.

These words clearly prove that during the Millennial period there will be refractory nations, and national judgments. And Isai., 65., equally proves that sin and death shall still be found upon earth, even in the most favoured countries-

"The child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old, shall be accursed."

Herald of the Kingdom and Age to Come, Aug 1856.

22 Look [Turn] unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth [kol afsei Eretz]: for I am El, and there is none else [no other].

23 I have sworn by Myself, the Word is gone out of My mouth in righteousness [of tzedakah], and shall not return [yashuv (be revoked)], That unto Me every knee [kol berekh] shall bow, every tongue [kol lashon] shall swear.

...we learn from the Spirit in Paul that this homage was to be received by proxy, that is, in and through the son of His love, who is the image of the invisible God, the express image of His person:

"At the name of Jesus, every knee should bow ... and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Phil. ii. 10, 11).

Hence also, in the Apocalypse, they are conjoined in the ascription joyfully offered by the company of the glorified saints,

"To him that sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb."

Nazareth Revisited ch 9

This testimony shows the nations will be reduced to abject submission, even the most powerful among them. Their courage and means of resistance will have departed; for by the sword of the Lord and of Israel they will have been subdued. At this crisis, however, they will find a Deliverer in Him who hath overcome them (Rev. 17:14;19:11-21).

...If we turn to this oath of subjection and future blessing, we shall see what is meant by every knee bowing to the Lord. "By Myself have I sworn," saith the Lord, "for because thou, Abraham, hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea-shore; and thy Seed (Christ) shall possess the gate of His enemies; and in thy Seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed My voice" (Gen. 22:16-18).

Elpis Israel 2.2.

A lamb stood on the Mount Zion - Rev 14: 1

Think of the reality, the sincerity, the worth, the fervid appreciation in every individual performer. Think of it as an assembly of picked men and women-picked on divine principles-and picked out not merely to take part in a musical performance, but to occupy a position and perform a part of which the musical performance is but the public and formal expression.

... the orchestral celebration of the 144,000 will be but the top branch of a tree of blessedness under which all nations will rest, and all woes be healed: for the performers are the assembled heads of mankind, who are heads not for their own glory but the glory of God and the good of mankind.

...The Mount Zion festival is pinned together at the centre. The multitudinous assembly has a head towards whom all the interest of the performance converges; as the root from which the whole has sprung. There is a history in the case which fills every heart with enthusiasm.

"Thou art worthy to receive power and riches, and wisdom and honour, and glory and blessing."

...At the Mount Zion festival, Christ, the loving head of all God's children, is present as the centre of the proceedings, the subject of the music, the object of the rapturous sentiments expressed.

... In the Mount Zion performance, the all-prevalent sentiment is that which fulfils the Scripture:

"To him every knee shall bow and every tongue confess."

Every man and woman in the assembly will be a lover of Christ in no feigned manner: a lover whose love will have been fanned into a bright flame by the change to the incorruptible; whose immortal strength will preclude fatigue in the exercise; and whose everlasting place in the House of God as a companion king with Christ and possessor of all things, will ensure a devotedness which there will be no competing pre-occupation to weaken or dim.
